South Pend Oreille Fire Resuce continues to be busy! Just before noon on Wednesday the 15th, SPOFR responded to a reported structure fire in the area of Deer Valley and Gray Rd, finding a fully involved travel trailer converted for permanent inhabitance. Both dry grass and multiple other structures were threatened, but a quick attack within minutes by Engine 11 with our career firefighter paramedics and volunteer firefighter EMTs negated further loss. No injuries were noted, and the occupant was assisted by both the Red Cross and SPOFR’s auxiliary non-profit. SPOFR hates seeing loss but is proud to serve our community. The fire is under investigation, however SPOFR reminds all of Pend Oreille County to practice safe heating measures.

***Our staffing model is highly effective and delivers an unprecedented level of service for our community. SPOFR response: Engines 11 and 31, Medic 31 (ALS), Command 320 and 301, Tankers 31 and 87 (9 fire personnel). SPOFR was able to keep a paramedic ambulance in service and backfill two fire engines within 15 minutes. Any questions may be relayed to the office of the Fire Chief.
