South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue hosted a public meeting at the Sacheen Lake Fire Station on Tuesday, December 19th. Commissioner Chairman Galen Hansen called the meeting to order and welcomed the public, SPOFR staff and volunteers.

Hansen began, “Most of us are aware that Chief Brad Martin will be moving in a little different direction with his wife…and tonight we want to recognize him and his wife for their contributions to us at South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue.”

Chief Martin was recognized for his 13 years of service to SPOFR and then given an award from SPOFR, along with a signed Chief’s helmet. In addition, Brad’s wife, Tammy, was recognized for her countless hours with the SPOFR auxiliary.

Commissioner Galen Hansen said, “Tonight we want to recognize him and send him forth with our love, with our appreciation and respect, and we wish him well.”

Chief Martin said, “I want to thank the Board of Commissioners for their support,” and then he recognized many of his team for their efforts during his time as Chief.

SPOFR will initiate a nationwide search for a new Chief in the coming days. SPOFR has negotiated with Spokane District 4 for support in the interim.

Spokane Fire District 4, Assistant Chief Mike Nokes, and Division Chief Daniel Williams were in attendance.

Chief Brad Martin welcomed and introduced the Spokane Fire District 4 team and extended his appreciation for their support. It was Brad’s suggestion that Spokane 4’s team fill in during a search for a new Chief.

Brad introduced the new SPOFR interim Chief, Dan Williams, who was a Life Fight Paramedic and is currently a Paramedic and Division Chief for Spokane 4.

Brad wishes to thank all the SPOFR staff and volunteers for their time and support during his tenure as SPOFR Chief.
