Chief Michael Nokes 2010 Mike Nokes comes from Harrisburg, Oregon. Nokes and his wife, Domini, and their four children, aged 8, 6, 5 and 3, are making their home in Fertile Valley for now. Nokes got his start firefighting at age 15, as a volunteer with his community fire district in Oregon. He went on to become Captain and Training Officer for the Halsey Fire Department in Halsey, Oregon., located just north of Eugene. He held that position for five and a half years before accepting the South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue position.
